Radio 1 Breakfast Best Bits With Greg James
Radio one is aimed at under 30's as well as promoting young artists as well as British artists, a prime example being Stormzy. Radio 1 is more enticed into playing popular music that fits with the younger generations.
In this Radio Show with Greg James, he allows the listener to be involved with the Show, for instance when he states at the start of the show "this is the most famous radio show in the world and it's a privilege to share it with you" this can be very enticing towards younger people as they feel as if they can connect more with Greg and the show.
In addition to this, when the young primary school teacher gets involved with the 'Big Weekend Reveal', Greg says that she "essentially works for radio one now that she has done the announcement" then she is rewarded with a couple of tickets to the 'Big Weekend', this overwhelms the teacher and ultimately creates a caring and generous image for Greg and Radio 1.
As well as this the structure is very thought out, for instance the background music allows a build up of tension as well as a release of tension. This use of background music allows the scene to be more intense than just a podcast, in addition, the use of ambient music allow the listener to be consistently engaged and to not lose focus.
As radio 1 is aimed at younger listeners, Greg James is a fitting character for the task, he creates an image of excitement and being energetic as well as comedic and joyous, this image is easily created through the language that he uses for instance the comedic story about the post man and the letterbox, this can be potentially relatable but ultimately joyous as it creates a domain for people to have fun, this can be on contrast to BBC Radio 2 as there is more of a sophisticated presenter which is aimed at older people.
Radio 1 creates a sense of sarcasm around the older generations with a more casual and 'chatty' interviews among the podcast, for instance a hardworking young teacher can be easily associated with Radio 1 as she almost fits the description for who they are aiming for, this creates connections with the radio show and the listeners as well as making it more distinctive as to who they represent.
