Research brief 3

In Touch magazine - bold yellow font (convention) main image of Meghan Markel in front of title to show power and dominance.
Yellow is a common colour for the subtitles and to amplify the importance of a statement.

the introduction of royals into the high contrasted modern magazine could be a technique to make the younger royals look more in tune the times than they actually are.The yellow font (convention) is an institutional convention. it is used in this institution a lot. this magazine appeals to people who are interested in the royal family, this therefore entails that British people are more likely to be interested. The feature of Katy Perry "how I got my body back" appeals to women who have experienced pregnancy and the toll it takes on the female body. also the fans of Katy who happen to be male according to her Instagram analytics through celebrity endorsement

Women's Weekly Best if Fiction  - again the bold vibrant yellow allows information to stick out

This magazine is aimed at a specific age demographic as it features an older woman who looks healthy and well, in addition captions such as " midlife crisis or spicing things up"

This specific targeting is good and the captions show how it is done however I want my magazine to be more broad as it is a global issue

This one is more centred to my topic specifically and after doing some research there is a gap in the market for a magazine specified on the damage petrol and diesel cars are doing and what can be done to solve this.

It uses a simplistic colour scheme "monochrome" black grey and white. this combination allows more seriousness but also emphasises the green earth and the damage that is being done to it. In addition Time magazines signature red borders are on display this is a common convention that is associated with Time magazine.

The subheading "the pandemic can lead us to a better greener world" is very valid and relevant to what I'm looking into, in addition the pandemic can be viewed as a window into a cleaner world, as there was less transport and trade, the general pollution around the world dipped

2) Research Mass market audience that expects to be emotionally engaged

As most real life story magazine's that are targeted at men are niche, for instance fishing, railway, classic cars etc with real life story's being inside the magazine, whereas real life stories that are targeted at Women are very similar, they consist primarily of motherly issues (raising kids, living on a budget) and also health, fitness and baking (food). It is hard to find unisex real life story magazines as well as finding magazines for teenage boys. I believe that my idea would be a universal idea, with

3) Audience segments

Research - Masthead Ideas

I want this phrase to embed into the mindset and to become a social norm.

Grasp it

Change your outlook on life weekly

Trips and Travel

Enviro Mental

Modern Mentality

Future Proof

brainstorming for brief 3

The magazine is going to be environmentally themed, about changing peoples believes and mindsets a good slogan/selling point will be "GRASP IT". It is a small but loud phrase with simplicity but yet so much meaning.

The main themes around the magazine are going to be the progressiveness of the motoring world into an electric era, different opinions and feelings around this.

Battery electric vehicle (BEV), which are also referred to as a pure electric vehicle, and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).

Brief 3 and Brief 4 Initial Response

Idea for Course Work

Brief 3 ideas

It would be centred around the 60s to 70s period

The magazine would mainly consist of the original prices of the cars which are put into todays money and then the actual value today.

The text of the main title/ name of the magazine would be consistent across the magazine as well as allowing for changes in the size of the title.

The stories on the front page will be in a more dominant font. This will keep the magazine easy to read as wells as having stand out titles on the pages.

- The images should showcase different nations classic cars from the era.

- The demographics are likely to be old male, as they will have more of a connection with these vehicles as they would have been children during the peak of these vehicles and have been impacted heavily by them.

Names of the magazine could be "Classical Cars of the Times" or "Classical European Cars" .The name needs to represent the time period as well as the genre and geographical origins behind the vehicles.

The Images on the front cover could be silhouette's of the vehicles for instance an image of the Mercedes  300sl with its gullwing doors is very iconic in the classical car industry and culture

Other initial ideas include a story on how a gentleman discovered a rare classic car and spent time and money making it a passion project.

Other Ideas
Another idea for the magazine could be Cycling, I could interview professional cyclists about the history of bicycles and how they train in order to get the fastest time trial times.

This idea is very important to me too as I'm looking into getting into cycling.
The magazine could offer out prices about good quality bicycles for beginners. For instance this bike the Triban Rc120, which is renown for being an amazing bike for an amazing price

The magazine would be aimed at also promoting cycling as a method of transport as appose to public transport, with numerical statistics to prove that cycling is healthier and in the long run cheaper.
This will be very enticing to the youth as a main concern in he 16-25 demographic is to be environmentally friendly.

Ideas for the name could be "Beginners Guide to Cycling"

The front picture could be a collage of bicycles, with the cyclist that I interview. It would have a brief summary of the contents for example
"High Quality Cycles on a Budget" or "Bikes on a Budget

Brief 4 Music Video
